Italy ready to further develop ties with Iran Governor General meets with Ambassador of Italy

Governor General of Esfahan Province Abbas Rezaee in a meeting with Italian ambassador Giuseppe Perrone said, “Esfahan is alive and life is going on in the country despite the US economic sanctions.”

He noted that Esfahan has always had good relations with Italy and expressed hope that the relationship would continue more than before.

Tourism development can also be considered as one of the foundations of the relationship between Esfahan and Italy and broaden the relationship between the two nations; in this respect, it is possible to increase the exchange of tourists between the two countries, he added.

He invited Italians to visit the central Iranian city in a bid to promote tourism between the two countries.

Rezaee said that trade ties between the two countries need to be developed by chambers of commerce to offset the effects of the US sanctions.

Italian ambassador to Iran, for his part said, “Esfahan plays an important role in development of ties between Iran and Italy as now there are five Italian representatives to take part in the Esfahan Stone Firm that is underway in the city.”

He stressed that Italy didn't wait to see how the US sanctions affect its ties with Iran.

Perrone noted that Rome is eager to develop ties with Iran in various sectors such as economic, scientific and archeological spheres.

The Italian envoy called for activating economic operators in Esfahan and Florence to forge better trade ties.
