S. Africa calls for developing tourism ties with Esfahan

Governor General of Esfahan Province in a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa Baleka Mbete referred to the ten thousand year-old history of Esfahan and said Esfahan has been the capital of Iran during four periods and is the capital of culture and civilization of Islamic Iran at the present time.

“Esfahan has more than twenty thousand natural and heritage attractions ant it was designated as the World Crafts City by UNESCO last year”, Zargarpour added.

Pointing to the sister city relationship between Esfahan and fourteen cities of the world, he expressed Esfahan readiness to establish sister city relationship with its counterpart in the South Africa.

He expressed hope that her visit to Iran pave the way for promoting relations between the two countries.

Baleka Mbete, for her part, said Iran and especially Esfahan have many historical and cultural attractions.

She also welcomed sisterhood suggestion between a South African historical city and Esfahan and expressed readiness for developing tourism ties with Esfahan.
